Hello and Welcome!

Hi, I’m Matt, a Physics student at the University of Manchester; I’ve just completed a year at the Universität Heidelberg, Germany.

Matt Evans

The choice of studying for a Physics degree was probably no accident since I have a seemingly insatiable desire to discover and understand new and exciting things.

This natural curiosity led me to teach myself JavaScript by dismantling awesome (in the ’00s sense) websites, and then on to other useful languages like PHP & Python (to name but a few), as well as to other personal hobbies like linux development, digital electronics, brewing exquisite craft ales, and teaching myself obscure languages such as Koiné Greek.

It’s also got me into a spot of bother from time to time.

I’m also highly interested in the area of information and network security, not least since I’ve been gaining real world experience through defending the machine delivering you this site against the onslaught of daily break-in attempts.

The understanding I’ve gained through this and personally studying for the CISSP (not that I can take it yet) gives the web apps and sites I build vastly superior security, built-in from the get-go.

If you’d like to contact me, you can do so by email (do make use of my GPG key), or through the sites you’ll find at the right of the page footer. I’d love to hear from you.
